Joseph Quinn Met Up With Metallica Backstage at Lollapalooza

Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn has been given the great honor of meeting with Metallica and having a jam session with them. Quinn became a breakout star when he played the band’s iconic song “Master of Puppets” during season four’s finale. The scene was truly incredible and so much so that it helped push the song back into the charts decades after it was first released. It also brought Metallica’s music to a new army of fans.

Joseph Quinn with the band members of Metallica The actor got to meet with the band members of Metallica – James Hetfield, Robert Trujillo, Kirk Hammett, and Lars Ulrich backstage at Lollapalooza. Guitarist James Hetfield shared with Quinn that he and his family have been big fans of Stranger Things ever since the show’s first season. He also praised Quinn for doing “Master of Puppets” justice by actually playing it for real in the episode. The actor replied that the song was all he was listening to for two years and he felt very connected to the band members.

The actor also got the chance to jam with Metallica during his backstage meeting with the band, and they played “Master of Puppets” with him. Quinn admitted that he was quite rusty and needed a lesson from the musicians. Then, they played the chords together, and drummer Lars Ulrich stated that Quinn was hired to join Metallica and make it a five-piece band.

After they were done playing, the band members gifted Quinn a special guitar modeled after the one he used in the show. They also gave Quinn a pass that would get him into any place where Metallica is having a show. After he left, Quinn stated that the experience he had with the musicians was amazing, and the opportunity to play “Master of Puppets” with the iconic metal band was all he could ask for and a story for his grandkids. The actor also admitted that he spent ages learning the guitar chords for the big scene. Still, the show got an expert metal guitarist to come in and do the solo.
